A change that challenges the very structure of our civilization, and threatens the values that have kept us strong in times of crises. That change is within our... products, articles, news

halftrack steering gear 3D-model #4

this 3D animated model shows how a braking supported steering gear works. It has been used in most of the German half tracked vehicles in WW2. I created this model to determine a possible usage in a 1/16 model of the german Sd.Kfz 9 Famo halftrack. This sequence shows a solid 3D animation of a whole turn of the Gear housing.
Actually this gear is a special version of a torsen differential gear with controllable balance via brakes. In the first part of the movie no brakes are applied but then the brakes (the beige parts on the right)fully stop an forces the rotation speed of the same axis to a slower speed an the opposite axis to a faster one. This is indicated by the 3 different cross bars - the violett one on the right turns with the same speed like the the torsen differential gear housing.
